What is Reflexology?
Reflexology uses the feet and hands as a means of activating- the body’s reflexes to promote relaxation and healing. The theory underlying reflexology is that reflex areas on the feet and hands correspond to specific body organs and glands. Applying pressure to these reflex areas has been found to be highly effective in relieving stress, bringing the body to a state of balance, treating many ailments, and improving overall health. Reflexology is well-respected and is used as a complementary therapy combined with traditional medicine.
If you could imagine viewing your feet as a mirror of your body, a reflexologist uses special types of techniques and skills to stimulate nerve endings in your feet. This in turn sends signals to the central nervous system which are then processed and filtered to the corresponding body part or organ being worked on.
Reflexologists are trained to feel and manipulate feet with their fingers and thumb, applying gentle but firm pressure to release tensions and clear energy blockages they sense in the reflex. Our clients generally describe reflexology as a pleasant experience that results in an energy boost and a profound sense of relaxation. A gentle reminder there could be tender areas located during the treatment. Reflexology never forces your body to heal, it allows your body to heal on its own time.
Reflexology is for everyone!
