What is a Neuromodulator? (Botox®/Dysport®)
Neuromodulators are Health Canada approved procedures to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet in adults. Botox®/Dysport® is one of the most widely researched treatment of its kind. Your Medical Esthetics Professional will help determine which product is best suited for your needs.
How Does a Neuromodulator Work?
Neuromodulators focus on treating frown lines and crow’s feet – the facial muscles. Your certified specialist (RN) will inject the muscles affected by the constant contractions with Botox®/Dysport® to temporarily reduce muscle activity, which will result in the smoothening of different lines.
Why do wrinkles occur? Wrinkles can occur due to many factors including cellular changes, collagen reduction, and free radical sun damage, but also constant muscle contractions.
What to expect with your Botox®/Dysport® procedure?
Treatments are usually a quick 10-minute treatment with minimal downtime. You may notice results within 14 days; lasting up to 3-4 months for moderate or severe frown lines.
Patients who receive this treatment have reported that the injections feel like a pinch. Botox®/Dysport® treatments have minimal downtime.
Neuromodulators are not a permanent treatment. If treatment is discontinued, moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet may return.
