As an RN, my job was to provide medical care for patients. However, working for many years in different areas of nursing, I got to also see firsthand how critical the caregiver is in looking after a patient. No matter how much we love or care for someone needing assistance, it requires strength, perseverance and a great amount of energy. I am not saying it isn’t rewarding and in most cases, the caregiver selflessly steps into the role without hesitation. Caring for a loved one or friend takes a toll on one’s physical and mental health.
When I first started A Wrinkle in Time, it was one of my goals to treat clients but also put an emphasis on caregivers too. From my experience, caregivers need to make self-care a priority. Everyone needs a break to re-charge and re-energize to keep going and be at their optimal level for themselves and the loved ones they are looking after too.
The example of being on a plane and placing the oxygen mask on yourself before anyone else is so true! If you aren’t in a good place, you won’t be able to help anyone else. Sometimes we need a reminder to look after ourselves. It’s ok to put yourself first, whether you have 30 minutes, an hour or a whole day (dare to dream!), you have to take it. It’s not selfish, it is actually quite the opposite.
Here are some recommendations of treatments that provide recharging benefits all within a time frame that works for the caregiver’s schedule.
- Neuromodulators – Botox/Dysport
- Dermafillers – Juvaderm/Restylane
- Vitamin Injection
These services will give you that quick lift to energy, physical appearance and/or one’s mental state of mind.
60 to 90 Minutes:
- Body Wrap
- Vitamin Infusion Therapy
These services will require you to sit and have someone look after you! Our team of professionals will help you relax and provide the pampering you deserve. We love conversation but if you need some peace and silence, we can provide that too.
- A combination of services! The possibilities are endless! Our team can create a customized treatment package based on your needs and time availability.
To help celebrate ‘Love for the Caregiver’ we have donated two $100 gift cards to Comfort Keepers Orangeville that featured in their Valentine’s Day contest. Comfort Keepers Orangeville offers a full range of companion and personal care services to support independent senior living at home. We felt this was an opportunity to support caregivers and also a local business too. Lori Ciappara, Owner of Comfort Keepers Orangeville, has done so much for the seniors in our community and we are thrilled to support her and her business.
To nominate a caregiver, go to Comfort Keepers Orangeville’s Facebook or Instagram page and post a photo and/or a few words about this special person that deserves some much-needed pampering. The winner will receive a $100 Reflexology Treatment Gift Card and a $100 Gift Card towards a service or product. The idea is for the caregiver and patient to visit A Wrinkle in Time together and have our team look after them both! The patient or caregiver can use either gift card. The contest closes on February 12th and the winner will be announced on February 14th. The winner’s story and/or photo will be used in a social media post.
